Jack Lyon, 95, of Mechanicsville, MD, died April 29, 2004 in St. Mary's Nursing Center. Born November 9, 1908 in Wicomico, MD he was the son of the late Roberta Ching Lyon and Alexander Marshall Lyon. He was the uncle of Luke William Oliver, Roger Lee Oliver of Mechanicsville, MD, Elias Edward Oliver of La Plata, MD, Marjorie K. Sterling of White Plains, MD, Sally C. Thompson of La Plata, MD, Velma R. Drinks of Newburg, MD, and the late Mary O. Goddard and Edward H. Oliver and many other nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alex Jarett Lyon, John Franklin Lyon, Mushaw Lyon, Henson Lyon, Adele Dyson, Deda Langley, Sallie Oliver and Virgie Gragan. Mr. Lyon was a lifelong St. Mary's County resident who was a Farmer and gulf course maintenance worker for the Aviation Yacht and Country Club in Chaptico, MD for 12 years until his retirement in 1973. He enjoyed hunting, crabbing, and fishing. The family received friends Sunday, May 2, 2004 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A Funeral Service was held Monday, May 3, 2004 in Christ Episcopal Church in Chaptico, MD with Father William J. Neat officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Lyon were Edward D. Oliver, Bernard L. Goddard, Fredrick C. Sterling, James H. Thompson, Jr., David M. Oliver and Timothy J. Drinks.
