Rodney

Thompson

Condolences

Condolence From: Mari W
Condolence: To the family, My deepest sympathies on your loss. It is evident that Mr. Rodney was genuinely loved and will be greatly missed. Please take comfort in knowing that you do not face this trial alone. Rather, you have the God of all comfort nearby to help you endure (2 Cor 1:3,4; Psalms 34:18). He promises to strengthen us when we are weak. He also offers us the hope of living forever on earth (Psalm 37:29) and even many who have passed away will one day see the fulfillment of that promise through his son, Jesus Christ (John 5:28,29). I hope these faith-strengthening thoughts will bring you comfort along with the precious memories shared and the love of those around you at this time.

Condolence From: Penney File and Sandy Butler
Condolence: We got to know Rodney through his son-in-law Richard, and Dorie Lear, all tied into Homestead Auctions. A good auctioneer, as was Rodney, needs to have a breadth of knowledge, the gift of ‘divvy’ a la Lovejoy, and an infectious personality, one that draws friendly response from everyone he encounters. Rodney had these qualities, making him a good auctioneer, but more importantly, demonstrating that he was a good man. Those are few and far between, and his family was lucky to have been tied to him, and his friends and acquaintances, such as Sandy and myself, were blessed to have experienced the moments of connection that we did.

Condolence: I first met Mr. Thompson in the capacity of County Commissioner. I had just began my career with County Government in 1989. An auction one year being held as a fundraiser for the Employees' Association and, of course, Commissioner Thompson, was volunteered to be the auctioneer. It was so much fun listening to him banter back and forth with co-workers driving the price up. I will always remember that auction and how he purchasing a carousel rocking horse and gave it to my one year old daughter. She loved that horse. Thanks for the fond memory! Commissioner Thompson was truly a great man!

Condolence: Rodney had such a welcoming smile and greeting every time we went into Dean Lumber. Once he knew you, he always addressed you by your name. When it came to ordering supplies for the addition on our house, Rodney just knew what we wanted and needed to get the job done. That kind of help is hard to come by now. Anyone who was lucky enough to know Rodney will agree that he will never be forgotten. R.I.P, my friend.

Condolence: Praying for God's peace and comfort as you walk this path and learn to traverse life without Rodney: the lover, the father; grandfather; great grandfather; brother; and cousin. Rodney has been a part of my life since I was 5 years old and he was then around 14 or 15. As the family knows we attended Hollywood Church of the Nazarene together. He always had a smile, a laugh or a joke. Go Rest High, Rodney, and take your rest!

Condolence: It is difficult to find the words to express our feeling of loss. Rodney was one of the first people we came to know when we moved to Hollywood so many years ago. He was that friendly smiling face there at Dean Lumber. Over the years we came to know him well. We will miss him but we know he is at peace with his Heavenly Father. Our love and sympathy to his family.
